Proposed Paris Olympics Equestrian Rules
There is a new proposal for rules regarding equine welfare for the 2024 Paris Olympics. This long list of recommendations was presented by the French National Assembly and not by the FEI. The list is long but easy to skim if you’re interested. Some of the rules seem very well thought out and others seem harder to execute but overall I am happy to see equine welfare as a top priority heading into the next Olympic Games.
Sheepskin/Fuzzy Equipment Detergent
I recently washed a few Lemieux fuzzy girths with the Melp detergent from EA Mattes and I’m here to say if you have any fuzzy covered equipment such as girths, boots or half pads, I highly recommend you get a bottle of this detergent. A little goes a long way and it works to clean the sweat and dirt out without matting the fuzz. I wish I would have taken before and after pictures because the girths cleaned up beautifully and look close to brand new.
Mesotherapy for Horses
I am not a vet so this is not a recommendation or a suggestion of how to treat your horse. This is merely an article and video explaining what mesotherapy is and how it can benefit some horses dealing with pain related issues. I have heard of using mesotherapy for horses in conjunction with chiropractic and pain management plans so I wanted to learn a little more about its use and benefits. That being said, I have only done minor digging and investigating but it sounds like mesotherapy could be a beneficial component in a pain management plan.
