Chesters Stables at Walwick Hall
Looking for a beautiful holiday away in England? The Walwick Hall is just the place to stay. The Chesters Stables were built in 1891 and the estate itself is on over 100 acres. Walwick Hall has many english countryside inspired rooms but the suites in the Chesters Stables are a horse girls dream. The Stallion suite looks absolutely gorgeous with original stall partitions, a small kitchen and a cozy living quarters with a wood burning fireplace. Even if you aren’t looking for a holiday getaway at the moment, you should at least go look at these photos. I guarantee you will be putting this place on your bucket list. I discovered Walwick Hall on one of my favorite blog/social media pages called Stable Style. Stable Style does amazing barn tours/holiday getaways and has a cute shop with equestrian inspired candles and coffee table books. Check out her blog for barn inspiration, getaway ideas and more.
Stretching Your Horse
It’s easy to get caught up in the idea that we should go to the barn, get ready and hop on our horses without much thought into the pre and post ride time. We are part of a busy society and there never seems to be enough time or energy to do the little things that actually could help. That being said, I encourage you to take some time to try some things like this exercise below to help your horse before you just get on and go. It’s also a great addition to a “winter workout.” What I mean by winter workout is when it is too cold to tack up, or you have the winter blues, you can make stretching and groundwork the focus so you still are doing something with your horse even if you don’t have the gumption to ride.
This exercise shown by Optima Equine Therapy on Instagram helps stretch the Gastrocemius & digital extensor muscles as well as the glutes & tensor muscles. I have not tried this exercise yet but I think it has a lot of potential to help with flexibility as well as understanding your horse’s range of motion and which leg is more difficult for them. This exercise is easily implemented as you pick your horses feet or put boots on so it shouldn’t be hard to add into a routine. This is one of many stretches you can do with your horse, Optima Equine Therapy has some other ideas on her page so hopefully you can add some stretching into your barn routine.
The Tried Equestrian
The Tried Equestrian is one of my favorite places to find tack and items for my horses along with super cute clothing for myself. The Tried Equestrian is an online consignment space where you can buy and/or sell equestrian items. There is everything from breeches, spurs, bridles, blankets and so much more. I have purchased a number of items from The Tried Equestrian and it’s always been great quality and fast shipping. I highly recommend taking a look, there’s lots of items that are new with tags that can be found in the NWT outlet!
