Short Video I Love

Many of us love the story behind the recent winner of the 148th Kentucky Derby, Rich Strike and the team behind him. This video isn’t about Rich Strike, there are plenty of those out there. This short video is for anyone feeling down about their riding. If you feel like the odds are stacked against you, this ones for you.

Favorite Grooming Tool

The mud is finally starting to dry out here in Minnesota so my horses are in need of some spring cleaning and nothing is more satisfying than mane and tail tidying. The pro leveling knife by Smart Grooming is one of my favorites if you have a mane that has grown long but does not need to be thinned. It leaves the mane with a very natural look so you don’t need to perform the dorky “bowl cut” mane trims anymore. I like the Smart Grooming products but there are plenty of similar options online. Just please whatever you do, don’t hack the mane straight across with scissors, your horse will thank me.

Interesting Technique- The Physiological Sigh

All of us deal with stress. Work, family, health, politics and everything in between can make us worried and anxious on a daily basis. I have listened to a few podcast episodes with Dr. Andrew Huberman and I find his research extremely fascinating. This short article discusses the physiological sigh and how it can help de-escalate the stress response in the body. This technique can be really beneficial, especially around the horses. Before you get out of your car at the barn, I encourage you to try this technique, try closing your eyes too.
