No Matter The Weather
So far, winter has been kind to us with mild temperatures and very little snow. That being said, we are not always so lucky and winter is not over yet! Whether you have a cozy indoor or you only have a stall barn or shed to work with, this program could be a great way to keep working no matter what environmental situation you are working with or how much time you have. In this program there are 77 groundwork activities to do with your horse. These activities may seem simple but if you can teach your horse these things on the ground, they will easily translate to riding in the saddle.
Equiva- Blanketing Tip
Does your horse’s blanket tend to get stuck on things creating a huge safety hazard? You probably have a spare sock in your drawer and with this little tip you can prevent your horse’s blanket from getting stuck on hay nets, hooks, etc. Unfortunately I cannot find this video on Facebook so I only can provide an Instagram link but it is definitely worth saving!
Anti-inflammatory Hot Cocoa
I love having something warm to drink while I am at the barn but I only drink one cup of coffee in the morning which leaves tea or hot cocoa as my options after 6 am. As far as hot cocoa, I make an anti-inflammatory hot cocoa that is delicious with just enough spice and just enough sweet. I start with 2-3 Tbsp Mike and Jen’s Hot Cocoa mix (made in Duluth, MN!) in ~16 oz water and then I add, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of ginger, 1 teaspoon of turmeric. This is the perfect drink at the barn on those chilly days or when you get home from the barn and need a warm pick me up in the afternoon. The spices are not overpowering, adding just enough flavor, not to mention the spices may have anti-inflammatory and immune boosting properties which is a nice added bonus to the tasty treat!
