Spoonflower

Where are my DIY and crafting gals at? Spoonflower is an incredible rabbit hole of a website. If you’re into sewing, you’ve probably looked for equestrian inspired fabrics at your local sewing/craft store with very generic running horses in a herd as your only option. Type in “equestrian” on Spoonflower’s website and you’ll find fabric you can’t live without, even though you don’t even have a project for it yet. And if you’re not into sewing, you can buy things pre-made like pillows, sheet sets and more! Including 4 different types of wallpaper! The amazing thing about Spoonflower is that all of the designs you see, are created by artists and they earn a little each time one of their designs is sold on a product. I’ve chosen a few of my favorite equestrian designs below to inspire your creativity.

Kelly De Gues

I found Kelly De Gues on Instagram and I was instantly mesmerized. Watching her work with horses in hand, specifically working on the piaffe is incredible. Her in hand work is so rhythmical and relaxed so I would love to learn more about her process. I am hoping to dive into her techniques and training program but she is Dutch so it is a little difficult to find English content but I see that she recently worked with Matt Harnacke and created some videos for his platform called HorseWorldTV so that may be an option soon for viewing her content. Find Kelly’s page below where you can watch the magic happen, oh, and turn the volume up on her videos, it really adds to her content.

Dorothee Schneider Interview

Dorothee Schneider is an outstanding German rider that most dressage riders have heard of as she has been along side Isabell Werth for many years on the German Olympic team. This interview is long, but it’s an in depth conversation about Dorothee’s yard, achievements, what she looks for in horses and more. I love the view inside such an accomplished rider’s routine and thoughts because most of these professional rider’s seem so otherworldly with the number of horses they continue to develop at such a high level of success. This is a great video if you need a little inspiration for your riding.
