Sitting Trot Explained
I get asked a lot about the sitting trot. Yes, some horses are more difficult than others to sit but the biggest aspect is getting our biomechanics correct so we may move with the horse in a fluid manner. In this video, she explains how to ride the sitting trot without bouncing like a kangaroo or doing the hula with your hips. Now, you may think, sure, she is doing this all off the horse so it’s easier but trust me, if you use her tips and try it on the ground, it will help you in the saddle.
Article I Love
This is an older article/interview but Jonny Hilberath is one of the top coaches in the world and if you can read between all the pictures, which I find quite distracting, then you will find the article useful and enjoyable. This article is a great read for riders of any discipline or athletes of any sport. One of my favorite excerpts to give you a taste:
How do you think your riding and training has evolved? Is it lighter now?
Absolutely. You have to be open to that. That is important, also in life, you have to go forward and be willing to leave your own comfort zone. That’s a problem for many people, they think ok, I’m safe here and if I go out of that, maybe I lose a bit of face, but if you want to go on and go further and get better, you have to take a risk.
Tool For Stress And Anxiety
When dealing with stress and anxiety, usually you need a multi faceted approach. One of the tools I use for managing stress is Trove CBD. My favorites are the tinctures and the body oil; they really help relax my muscles and calm my mind, not to mention it is USEF show safe for riders so you can use Trove at horse shows as well. Trove’s founder Deborah Carter is an equestrian and you can read about her horse Star’s amazing story on the website.
Below you can find a 20% off your first order as well as a video with Steffen Peters and his journey with anxiety and finding Trove.
