Tim Ferriss with Dr. Jim Loehr Episode #490

This podcast episode is an older one from Tim Ferriss but one that I have listened to at least 4 times. I love what Dr. Jim Loehr has to say about why you choose to perform and participate in your sport and what people will remember you for when you’re gone. If you need a little inspiration or you’re questioning any part of your riding journey, listening to Dr. Jim Loehr will help you find your purpose and revive your inner fire. One thing that I personally took away from the episode is how important journaling is when working towards goals. I have started journaling a little bit, but the elements of journaling Dr. Jim Loehr and his team implement for their athletes really seem to be of more benefit than simply writing a note on your phone or writing a goal on a post-it note. Have a listen on your way to the barn or in the morning before your day begins and I know you will not be disappointed.

I saw these hammocks on Instagram and I think they are utterly genius. You can purchase these online but because they are coming from New Zealand, you may want purchase with your barn friends and save on shipping to the United States. I can already see myself lying in the hammock at a horse show. I think many people have experienced the need for shade and a rest in between classes. This would also be great for my friends that want to go camping with their horses and create some more sleeping space.

Tying A Rope Halter Lead To Make Reins

If you know my training style, you know I strive for what is best for the horse, even if that means a little unconventional in the eyes of the dressage world. Sometimes that may be a bitless bridle and other times it may just be a rope halter depending on what the horse needs. That being said, it is helpful to know how to make a rope halter into a bridle so the lead rope becomes your reins. Here is a short clip of how to make your lead rope into reins. I save videos like this on my phone so that if I ever need a reminder, it is right there, easy to reference in the barn.

The power broker in your life is the voice that no one hears. How well you revisit the tone and content of your private voice is what determines the quality of your life. It is the master storyteller, and the stories we tell ourselves are our reality.
